Artist Statement:
College is a big step in any adolescent’s life. For some it is a rite of passage where they will build friendship and finally discover what they want to do with their life and for others, it’s one obstacle between them and university.
For me, college was supposed to be two additional years stuck in the Quebec’s education system before taking one year gap to rest and build up my CV. What I got instead is a series of situations that lead me to question what living in a multicultural society means. Is it just shoving people together and hoping they don’t kill each other? Is it based on tolerance or trust? I didn’t think there would be much change between English school and French school, and yet I went through culture shock during my time at Dawson.

Now that I’m leaving college for good (hopefully), I decided to put together small comic strips about the funniest and the not-so funny situations that happened to me and my friends. This project is both a way for me to reflect on the past two years and how my environment and upbringing affects how I see the world then, today, and tomorrow.
